February Birthdays & Anniversaries

Tim & Maryanna ~ February 24 (20 years!)

Drew C ~ February 26 (7 years)

Saturday January 30, 2010 we combined our annual Valentines/ Sweet Hearts Banquet with a fundraiser for the Mike Kelly family who lost their home in a fire during New Years weekend.

Over a hundred people enjoyed prime rib cooked to perfection by our own, Tim Medford, and vegetables, salads, home made rolls and desserts made by congregation members.

Bob Speck entertained with singing while playing guitar, bass and banjo.  His wife Cathy sang as did his mother, Loretta, who also played bass and autoharp.  Robert Rich joined the group and played “Tub Bass”, an old art which many of us had never seen before.   Their music was enjoyed by all.  A free will donation was taken for the supper and a love offering was taken during the entertainment with all proceeds going to the Kelly family.

Thank you to everyone who contributed in any way and especially to those who attended and made our evening a succes

January birthdays include:

Samantha D. ~ January 4

Jean F. ~ January 5

Jon M. ~ January 31

The annual Christmas Program was held on the morning of December 20, 2009.  We enjoyed breakfast together in the fellowship hall before the program.

A play “The Santa Zone” was presented by the children with Nicholas C. staring as “Santa”  who is saddened that the children and the elves think that Christmas is about him  instead of the birth of Jesus.  Santa tunes in to the Bethel Church Christmas Program and listens to Pastor Tim Medford’s message on Christmas and enjoys watching the children from church, Andrew, & Jon B., Jon M., Drew, Clarissa and Mia C.,  and Amber L., act out the nativity while Tim reads the scripture from the book of Luke.

Also participating in the play were Sarah M., Meagon B., Mariah B., Nancy D., and Mallorye B.

Donna C., sang a Christmas version of  “Whispering Hope” and Sarah, Meagon, Mariah, Nancy, Mallorye, Amber, John, Jon, and Andrew sang “Silent Night”.

At the end of the play the children and elves sang “Jesus Loves Me” and played “Angels We Have Heard on High”  on the bells.  Santa was overjoyed that they all understood the true meaning of Christmas and left to make his appointed rounds.

December birthdays include:  Danny H ~ 21

Nicholas C ~ 24

Anniversaires ~ Mike & Donna C ~ 3

We are deeply saddened by the death of one of our church family members, Ramona Bagley.

Romona was a soft spoken woman who loved to cook, quilt and spend time with her family.  We will miss her pleasant smile, her beautiful prayers and her kind, gentle, loving ways.  She passed away on December 26, 2009.  Our thoughts and prayers are with her husband, Raymond and all who loved her.

October ~ 2009

After a number of teens complained that they missed the hayride and bonfire held on October 10th, we have decided to hold a second event on Saturday October 24th, beginning at 5:00 p.m.

Hamburgers, hot dogs, s’mores and beverages will be provided by Bethel Church, and a scavenger hunt will be added.

We are pleased to announce that Andrew and John B. have asked Jesus to be their personal Savior.  They have asked to be baptized on Sunday, November 1st at the Stacy Center following regular church services.

October is rushing by and thus far has been a great month for our Bethel Church family!

In Sunday School class we are currently studying in the book of Exodus.  We started with Genesis, chapter 1, verse 1 and have truly enjoyed studying the bible in context from the beginning.

For church services, after completing the book of John from beginning to end, we are currently working our way, verse by verse through the book of Romans.   Pastor Tim has given some very good messages from these words written by Paul.

Wednesday night services were added October 7th.

Please join with us in wishing Pauline Beard a happy 95th birthday! October birthdays also include:

  • Robbie K. ~ October 7
  • Dan K. ~ October 9
  • Pauline B.~ October 16
  • Amelia C. ~ October 24
  • Gary S.~ October 26
  • Ruth L.~ October 30
  • Ramona B. ~ October 31

Pauline is our oldest member and Amelia, who will be three, is our youngest.

John & Illia H. and Bob and Bevery G. will celebrate anniversaries on October 16.

Prayer requests include Ramona B. who will remain in the hospital for another three weeks minimum, for Sarah K. who is waiting on an organ transplant, and for Don K. who recently had valve replacement surgery and is going through rehab.

If you don’t currently have a church home, please feel free to come and visit us!  Sunday School is at ten, church services at eleven, and Wednesday night services are at 6:30 p.m.
